Presentation

Hip pain.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Female

Fracture of the distal right femoral prosthetic stem with mild displacement. Periprosthetic lucency around the right femoral component suggestive of loosening. 

Left total hip replacement without evidence of complication. Internal fixation of the superior right acetabulum. 

Case Discussion

Careful evaluation of joint replacements is needed to identify potential complications, these can be subtle early and comparison with prior imaging is vital.
