Presentation
A history of facial trauma, diplopia, and asymmetric telecanthus
Patient Data
Large dense fluid-containing expansile lesion within the right side frontoethmoidal sinus bulged within the related orbital cavity through a bone defect and compression on adjacent medial rectus muscle is seen. Note also the orbital inferior medial wall blow-out fracture deformity with fat and medial rectus muscle hernia within the defect.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates non-contrast MDCT features of the pathology-proved frontoethmoidal mucocele with orbital medial wall blow-out fracture deformity. One of the major causes of frontal sinus mucocele is frontal sinus outflow tract obstruction due to previous trauma and resultant fracture deformity. Other major causes include previous surgery, infection, and benign neoplasm such as osteoma 1.
