Fusiform aneurysm of the common femoral artery with occlusion of the superficial branch
Presentation
Non-painful pulsating mass in the right inguinal region that developed slowly throughout several years after the femoral artery was used as the vascular access point for percutaneous coronary angioplasty.
Patient Data
B-mode ultrasound
A fusiform aneurysm of the bifurcation of the common femoral artery can be observed as well as the complete occlusion of the superficial branch.
Color Doppler Ultrasound
Color ultrasound demonstrates normal flow towards the profunda femoris artery.
Images + measurements
Additional images showing the size of the aneurysm.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates a fusiform aneurysm of the common femoral artery with an accompanying chronic occlusion of the superficial femoral branch. Both conditions likely originated from the percutaneous cardiac intervention performed several years earlier.
