Presentation

Non-painful pulsating mass in the right inguinal region that developed slowly throughout several years after the femoral artery was used as the vascular access point for percutaneous coronary angioplasty.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

A fusiform aneurysm of the bifurcation of the common femoral artery can be observed as well as the complete occlusion of the superficial branch.

Color ultrasound demonstrates normal flow towards the profunda femoris artery.

Case Discussion

This case demonstrates a fusiform aneurysm of the common femoral artery with an accompanying chronic occlusion of the superficial femoral branch. Both conditions likely originated from the percutaneous cardiac intervention performed several years earlier.
