Presentation

Forearm swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Female

Distal radial shaft non-united fracture with exuberant calcified callus. The distal fracture fragment is displaced medially with overlap.

Dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint with positive ulnar variance.

Distal radial shaft non-united fracture with exuberant calcified callus. The distal fracture fragment is displaced medially with overlap. No distinct underlying bone lesion although the bones appear diffusely low density.

Dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint with positive ulnar variance.

Severe first carpometacarpal osteoarthritis.

Case Discussion

An example of a Galeazzi fracture-dislocation with a non-united radial fracture and presumed chronic distal radioulnar joint dislocation. The mechanism is unknown and the forearm swelling had been present for about 6 months. The reason for delayed presentation is not known.
