Patient Data

Age: 51
Gender: Male

Comminuted spiral fracture of the distal radial diametaphysis with volar angulation and displacement of the fracture site and dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint - variant of a Galeazzi fracture-dislocation. The fracture does not appear to extend to the radial articular surface. Ulna is intact. Anatomical carpal bone alignment.

Case Discussion

The classic Galeazzi fracture involves the distal shaft of the radius, here the distal radial shaft fracture extends all the way to the metaphysis which is atypical.
