Presentation
Incidental finding.
Patient Data
Gallbladder demonstrates small calcified stones and focal wall thickening at its fundus. The remainder of the study is unremarkable.
Liver has normal sonographic appearances with no evidence of focal lesions. No intra or extrahepatic biliary dilatation, the common biliary duct measures up to 6 mm in caliber. Gallbladder demonstrates two small mobile stones within and an area of focal thickening of its wall in the region of the fundus; this area does not demonstrate increased vascularity and shows small irregular cystic areas and hyper echogenic foci.
Case Discussion
This case illustrates a focal thickening of the gallbladder wall that demonstrates contrast enhancement on CT and tiny echogenic fociwithin the lumina of small cystic-like lesions on ultrasound (Rokitansky-Aschoff sinuses). These imaging features favor adenomyomatosis over the other differentials.
