Gallbladder polyp - pediatric

Presentation

Right upper abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 7 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Small well-defined echogenic lesion within the gallbladder lumen adherent to the wall measuring 7 mm with no posterior shadowing. The color Doppler shows internal vascularity. No gallstone was seen.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound features of a small echogenic lesion adherent to the gallbladder wall with internal vascularity on color Doppler most consistent with a gallbladder polyp.

Gallbladder polyps are rarely described in the pediatric population and the vast majority are cholesterol polyps1,2.
