Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Trauma to the right knee.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Small well-defined cyst of the posterior aspect of the knee at the insertion of the medial gastrocnemius muscle of homogeneous content of low signal on T1 and high signal on T2 and PD fat sat.

Cartilage defect of the medial patellar articular surface with associated bone marrow edema.

Normal appearances of the menisci, cruciate and collateral ligaments.

Case Discussion

MRI features of an osteochondral injury of the patella.

Small well-defined cyst at the insertion of the medial gastrocnemius muscle suggestive of a ganglion cyst (incidental finding in this case).
