Presentation

Pain and swelling at the base of the volar aspect of the right 5th finger

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

There is a 5x7 mm well-defined cyst with the fluid equivalent signal at the level of the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint in the radial side and adjacent to the respective fifth flexor tendon sheath A1 pulley.

Case Discussion

Ganglion cyst of the finger flexor tendon occurs more often in women (2.6:1). The middle finger is most commonly affected site and is located at the A1 and A3 pulleys in 69% of cases 1.
