Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Five years swelling on the lateral aspect of the knee. Surgery 5 months ago. Recurrence 1 month ago. No foot drop.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Soft tissue swelling on the lateral aspect of the knee.

ultrasound

Lobulated anechoic cyst with few thin septa is noted on the lateral aspect of the knee.

Size - 26 x 26 x 17 mm.

It is superficial to lateral collateral ligament which is intact.

Biceps femoris tendon is deep to the posterior part of the cyst.

The common peroneal nerve is about 1 cm posterior to the cyst.

The visualized peripheral part of lateral meniscus - Intact without extrusion.

No neck extension from cyst could be localized.
