Ganglion cyst with partial tear of dorsal intercarpal ligament

Presentation

Pain at dorsal aspect of hand; history of weight lifting

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male

Lobulated, septated cystic lesion, measuring approx. 4.5 x 7 x 8.6mm at posteroinferior aspects of capitate bone. Associated partial tear of dorsal intercarpal ligament is seen.

Partial tear of ulnar attachment of triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) is seen, predominantly involving styloid attachment.

Mild sprain of volar radioulnar ligament is seen.

Tendinosis of extensor carpi ulnaris tendon is seen with possible thin interstitial tear starting approx. 15mm proximal to ulnar styloid, extending distally for approx. 25mm.
