Gartner duct cyst and Bartholin gland cyst

Case contributed by Franco A. Scola
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Recent pelvic pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

There are some cysts, above the pubic symphysis, on the left anterolateral wall of the vagina, with a high signal on T2-weighted images and an intermediate/high signal on T1-weighted images.

Two cysts are seen below the pubic symphysis, in the postero-lateral inferior third of the vagina, with a high signal on T2-weighted images and a low signal on T1-weighted images.

Case Discussion

This case shows important differential diagnoses between cystic lesions around the vagina. The cysts above the pubic symphysis are compatible with Gartner duct cysts with proteinaceous content, even more with the clinical information of ipsilateral renal agenesis. The cysts located below the pubic symphysis are consistent with Bartholin gland cysts.
