Presentation
A male patient presented with gastro-esophageal reflux disease that is resistant to medical treatment.
Patient Data
A well-defined hypodense mass lesion is seen within the gastric antrum. It is of fatty attenuation value and does not show enhancement in the post-contrast series.
Case Discussion
The abdominal CT study demonstrates the presence of a well-defined hypodense antral mass lesion. It is of fatty attenuation and is non-enhancing. It is likely gastric antral lipoma.
Further laboratory investigation proved that the patient had an iron deficiency anemia. Upper GI endoscopy confirmed an antral submucosal mass. GIST was considered among the differential diagnoses.
The patient underwent laparoscopic excision. Histopathological examination after surgical excision proved gastric antral submucosal lipoma.
