Presentation

Asian female with history of epigastric pain.

This spot image from an upper GI series shows a large ulcerated mass along the lesser curvature of the stomach.

The CT images show similar findings with marked eccentric thickening of the gastric wall and ulceration.

Case Discussion

Diagnosis was confirmed as gastric carcinoma.

Gastric carcinoma has a higher incidence among Asian populations than Western. It is associated with H. pylori infection, high salt intake and smoking. Symptoms include epigastric pain, loss of appetite, weight loss and heme-positive stool.
