Presentation

Onset of nonbilious vomiting and a palpable mass.

Patient Data

Age: newborn
Gender: Female
x-ray

Abdominal plain radiography shows a large soft tissue circumferential mass displacing the bowel to the left.

ultrasound

Ultrasound reveals a cystic mass with the double wall sign (inner echogenic layer and an outer hypoechoic layer).

mri

MRI T2-weighted sequence demonstrates a cystic mass with close contact with the gastric pylorus.

 The Photomicrograph shows histopathologic features that are characteristics of a gastrointestinal duplication: an inner smooth muscle layer and an outer atrophic gastric mucosal lining.
