Gastric MALT lymphoma

Case contributed by Dr Sigmund Stuppner

Presentation

Recurrent abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 83
Gender: Male
Ultrasound

Hypoechoic focal wall thickening of the greater gastric curvature (16 mm).

CT

CT findings are a extensive wall thickening of the greater gastric curvature with multiple pathologic perigastric lymph nodes.

Case Discussion

Stomach biopsy showed a marginal zone B-cell lymphoma  (MALTOMA) of the greater curvature and HP.

Mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, also called extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma, is a type of low-grade extranodal lymphoma. Chronic infection/inflammation has been implicated in the pathogenesis, for example Helicobacter pylori infection.
