Gastritis and gastric ulcer

Epigastric pain

Patient Data

Age: 65 year-old
Gender: Female
Nuclear medicine

Modest increased FDG uptake by circumferential mural thickening involving the gastric antrum with increased standardized uptake value (SUV max 4.2),  

A deep ulcer crater is seen along the greater curvature at the gastric antrum measuring 1cm in diameter and not extending via the serosa.

No FDG uptake in the ulcer.

Case Discussion

Endoscopy revealed severe gastritis at the gastric antrum with decreased distensibity during gastric insufflation, and an ulcer along the greater curvature,

Biopsy revealed inflammatory changes and Helicobacter infection.
