Abdominal mass detected on ultrasound.
Patient Data
Large midline heterogeneously enhancing soft tissue mass inseparable from the lesser curvature of the stomach, occupying the lesser sac, and displacing the left hepatic lobe.
Well-defined mass occupying the lesser sac (gastrohepatic ligament), inseparable from the lesser curvature of the stomach, showing no extension into the gastric lumen or mucosa. After contrast administration, the mass enhances heterogeneously. It abuts the free border of the left hepatic lobe and compresses segment II superiorly with no evidence of direct infiltration. The left gastric artery is stretched along the posterior surface of the mass with no signs of occlusion.
Case Discussion
Exophytic gastric mass with CT and MR features highly suggestive of a GIST.
Histopathology: spindle cell tumor, formed of interdigitating bundles of atypical spindle cells, having irregular nuclei with low mitotic figures. Consistent with gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
