Gastrointestinal stromal tumor of the stomach mimicking adrenal metastasis

Case contributed by Mohammad Taghi Niknejad
Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Known and operated case of breast cancer. Work up for metastasis.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

The hepatic attenuation value is less than the spleen, suggesting fatty liver disease.

A 40×30 mm well defined heterogeneously enhancing mass is noted between the left adrenal gland and stomach, seems to be originated from the stomach, is better seen on coronal images, and is most consistent with GIST.

Postoperative changes are seen due to left mastectomy and axillary lymphadenectomy.

A tiny amount of pleural effusion is present bilaterally.

The right hemidiaphragm is elevated.

A 43 mm simple cortical cyst is noted at the mid portion of the left kidney.
