Artifact from gauze applied to external laceration.
Case Discussion
Gauze is manufactured to be evident on plain radiographs. In this case, it is externally applied - not taken off before the radiograph between taken.
It can be much more relevant in other cases, such as a retained laparotomy swab, which has caused an intra-abdominal collection.
