Giant cell tumour of bone

Case contributed by Dr Nauman Akram

Presentation

Pain and swelling of the right wrist and distal forearm.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
X-ray

There is a subarticular lytic expansile lesion of the distal ulna in epiphysis and metaphysis with internal septations giving a 'bubbly' appearance. There is a periosteal reaction at the junctional zone suggesting the aggressive nature of the lesion.

Case Discussion

The subarticular location of this expansile lesion in a patient with a fused skeleton is most in keeping with a giant cell tumor.
