Giant cell tumour of the tendon sheath

Growing mass on the radial side of the right index finger. No pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Mass on the radial side of the right index finger.


Tumour with 14 x 6 x 11 mm in diameter. Internal vascularity is seen.

Well defined tumour with high signal in PD and TIRM, low signal in T1w. Marked enhancement in T1 C+.

Case Discussion

Local surgical excision was performed. Histology showed the typical composition of fibroblasts and multinucleated giant cells, foamy histiocytes and inflammatory cells on a background fibrous matrix, confirming the diagnosis of giant cell tumour of the tendon sheath.
