Giant intracranial internal carotid artery aneurysm

Case contributed by Dr Bahman Rasuli

Headache and vertigo.

Patient Data

Age: 70
Gender: Male

There is a 25x30 mm giant T2 signal void internal carotid aneurysm originated from the clinoid segment in the left side.

Associated findings are the sellar expansion, suprasellar extension with pressure effect on the third ventricle and midline shift to the right side.

Case Discussion

Giant T2 signal void aneurysm originated from the clinoid segment of the left internal carotid artery. The most important part of this exam is not to misdiagnose a solid lesion. If the patient proceeded to surgery/biopsy catastrophic bleeding would almost certainly ensue.
