Glenoid dysplasia with labral tear and paralabral cyst

Presentation

Posterior shoulder pain.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Intact long head of biceps tendon and rotator cuff. No subacromial bursal effusion. Acromioclavicular joint is intact. Type II acromion. 

Large posterior paralabral cyst. The labral tear is not well defined but appears posterior and/or posteroinferior. Glenoid dysplasia with a deficient bony posterior rim and glenoid retroversion. Intact glenohumeral cartilage. No glenohumeral joint effusion.

Case Discussion

An example of glenoid dysplasia with an associated although poorly defined labral tear, certainty/detection made easier by the presence of a large paralabral cyst.
