Glioblastoma NOS (24 hour post-operative MRI)

Case contributed by A.Prof Frank Gaillard

Preoperative images demonstrating a large peripherally enhancing, centrally necrotic mass.

Selected images obtained from a scan 24 hours post surgery demonstrating resection cavity and resection of the enhancing mass. No convincing residual enhancing tumour present.

Case Discussion

This patient had a histologically proven glioblastoma

These images are merely to indicate the importance of having pre-and post-contrast T1 images in the postoperative setting, to allow assessment for any residual tumour.

Note: IDH mutation status is not provided in this case and according to the current (2016) WHO classification of CNS tumours, this tumour would, therefore, be designated as a glioblastoma NOS
