Presentation

Headache and seizure attacks.

Patient Data

Age: 10 years
Gender: Male
mri

Abnormal signal intraaxial solid thick irregular rim enhancing mass measuring about 30*35*40 mm with necrotic center at left parietal lobe surrounded by marked vasogenic edematous changes

The mass shows water restriction on DWI images

Colpocephaly of the left lateral ventricle occipital horn

Empty sella.

Case Discussion

The mass was biopsied and histopathologic examination revealed:

Microscopic description: Neoplasm with fibrillar background arranged in sheets. The neoplastic cells are large pleomorphic having moderate cytoplasm, pleomorphic hyperchromatic nuclei, and coarse chromatin. Increased mitotic figures are noted. Foci showing microvascular proliferation and necrosis.

Diagnosis: Glioblastoma multiform WHO grade IV.
