Schematic diagram of Goodsall's rule of perianal fistula.
Case Discussion
Goodsall's rule of perianal fistula states that an external opening anterior to the transverse anal line will track in a straight radial manner while an external opening posterior to the transverse anal line will follow a curved course to the posterior midline. An exception to this rule is anterior external openings >3cm from the anal verge 1.
