Walled-off fluid collection with foci of gas and high density serpiginous material within.
Surrounding bowel loops show ileus and the mesentery is congested.
Case Discussion
Missing surgical material inside the abdominal cavity is generally a rare occurrence. In this case, a surgical gauze was left within the peritoneal cavity that resulted to abscess formation in this septic patient.
