Granulomatous angiitis - cerebral

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Selected axial FLAIR images demonstrate multiple areas of high T2 signal involving both hemispheres and posterior fossa. 

Angiography demonstrate irregular small caliber vessels, most easily seen on the lateral projection of the right internal carotid artery. 

Case Discussion

The patient underwent a temporal lobe biopsy demonstrating: granulomatous angiitis with multiple cerebral infarcts, both old and recent.
