Case contributed by Samir Benoudina
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Fall on outstretched hand.

Patient Data

Age: 6 years
Gender: Male

There are angular fractures of the radial and ulnar diaphyses. The radial fracture is complete and involves both cortexes. The ulnar fracture appears incomplete, with one cortex fracture and the other buckled.

Case Discussion

Greenstick fractures are a common fracture pattern in children due to the pliable nature of the periosteum. This fracture is in contrast to a torus fracture, which is also seen in pediatric patients but is less common.
