Right flank pain for 10 days. Vomiting and burning micturition.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

A calculus measuring 20 mm x 8 mm (HU -1400) is seen in the right proximal ureter corresponding to L5 vertebrae causing upstream gross dilatation of the ureter and pelvicalyceal system of the right kidney and thinning of the renal cortex (paper-thin parenchyma in all pole region).

Case Discussion

Persistent gross hydroureteronephrosis without intervention may lead to the nonfunctioning kidney.
