Guillain-Barré syndrome

Presentation

Ascending weakness with ataxia and absence deep tendon reflexes in the lower limbs.

Patient Data

Age: 5
Gender: Male
Modality: MRI

Sagittal T1 and T2 images demonstrate normal appearance of the conus terminating at mid L1 level. Sagittal and axial post contrast T1 FS images shows smooth thickening and abnormal enhancement of the cauda equina and the ventral nerve roots. 

Imaging findings and clinical presentations are typical for Guillain-Barré syndrome.
