Presentation

Retroareolar left breast mass

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male
mammography

A triangular-shaped asymmetrical density behind the left nipple.

ultrasound

The ultrasound of the same breast. The triangular hypoechoic mass is almost lobulated on the margins. The key point is it abuts the deep surface of the nipple. On both mammography and ultrasound, the density of glandular tissue abuts the deep surface of the nipple. The pyramidal shape on ultrasound is very typical, apex to the deep surface of the nipple.

Case Discussion

There is no connection between gynecomastia and pot smoking. In practice, you will see this condition in puberty and in senior men. Unilateral is seen slightly more commonly than bilateral. Male breast cancers are identical on imaging findings to female breast cancers.
