Hemangioma of liver (on Tc 99m tagged red blood cell scan)

Presentation

Patient had an ultrasound of the abdomen ordered as a workup for severe thrombocytopenia.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

There are 2 large hyper echoic liver lesions with hypo echoic peripheral rim and no increased vascularity.

There are 2 liver lesions showing incomplete peripheral nodular filling progressively on delayed phase imaging consistent with 2 large cavernous hemangiomas of the liver.

 

Tagged RBC scan confirming the large cavernous hemangiomas. Requiring no further work up.

Case Discussion

Incidental finding of 2 large cavernous hemangiomas in the liver. No further work up necessary.
