Haemochromatosis of the liver

Presentation

Signs of portal hypertension and skin discoloration.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
MRI

Diffuse signal loss is seen in the liver on the T2-weighted images and especially the gradient echo image. Also note nodularity of the liver, a small amount of ascites and gastro-oesophageal varices; stigmata of liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Prognosis in this case is poor.
