Diffuse signal loss is seen in the liver on the T2-weighted images and especially the gradient echo image. Also note nodularity of the liver, a small amount of ascites and gastro-esophageal varices; stigmata of liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Prognosis in this case is poor.
