Hemorrhagic maxillary antral carcinoma

Presentation

Hemorrhage from large right-sided face tumor.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Large heterogeneously enchancing mass with areas of ulceration, necrosis and hemorrhage. Mass is centered on maxillary sinus, it is causing destruction of right zygoma, maxilla with 2/3 of alveolar ridge and hard palate, invading nasal cavity, ethmoid and sphenoid bones. Mass extends to the middle cranial fossa through erosion of great sphenoid wing. Prominent lymphadenopathy.

VR soft tissue shows enlarged lymph nodes. Dense material in the tumor represents hemostatic sponge.

Case Discussion

Biopsy showed squamous cell carcinoma. Patient was declared not amenable to surgery.
