Presentation

Aggravating posterior ankle and heel pain not improved on medical treatment.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
mri

Tendo-Achilles insertion heterogenous segmental thickening as well as intra-substance abnormal intermediate to high signal intensity with underlying marrow edema of the posterior calcaneal tuberosity and cortical irregularities

Bony prominence is seen on the postero-superior aspect of the calcaneal tuberosity.

Associated mild retrocalcaneal bursitis.

Case Discussion

The triad of insertional Achilles tendinopathy, retrocalcaneal bursitis and postero-superior calcaneal spur are diagnostic of Haglund syndrome.
