Info

Increased signal intensity on PDFS is observed in the distal portion of the Achilles tendon, consistent with tendinopathy. Mild oedema signal surrounds the Achilles tendon, consistent with paratenonitis. Bone marrow oedema of the calcaneal tuberosity is also noted. The effusion lies between the anteroinferior Achilles tendon and the posterosuperior calcaneus, consistent with retrocalcaneal bursitis. Bony enlargement is formed at the posterosuperior aspect of the calcaneus, consistent with Haglund's deformity.

Case Discussion

The imaging findings and clinical symptoms are consistent with Haglund syndrome. The patient was subsequently treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids, and physical therapy, resulting in significant symptom improvement.
