Presentation

Chronic posterior heel pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male
mri

Focal enlargement and abnormal signal at the preinsertion segment of Achilles tendon associated with abundant fluid at the retrocalcaneal bursa. Nevertheless, there is bony projection at the superoposterior corner of the calcaneal with underlying marrow edema.

Case Discussion

Haglund syndrome is a common cause of posterior heel pain and occurs due to repetitive friction and microtrauma between a dorsal calcaneal spur and the Achilles tendon. Wearing low back and high heel shoes is a risk factor.
