Huge volume conglomerate para-aortic and mesenteric lymphadenopathy, which is encircling the aorta and the visceral vessels.
Small left sided pleural effusion.
The hamburger ( or sandwich ) sign describes the appearances of mesenteric +/- para-aortic nodal mass giving an appearance of a hamburger.
Confluent lymphadenopathy on both sides of the mesenteric vessels gives rise to an appearance which often encircles all vessels in the vicinity.
It is observed in lymphoma. This was proven following an ultrasound guided biopsy from the left para-aortic component of the mass.
