Hand abscess

Swelling on dorsal aspect of hand - Few wks. H/O trauma. O/E - Swelling overlying 3rd - 4th metacarpal distal shaft region - on dorsal aspect of hand. Radiograph of hand - No fracture.

Patient Data

Age: about 35 - 40 yrs
Gender: Male

Collection with mobile echoes is noted on palmer as well as dorsal side of hand.

Communicating tract passes between 3rd and 4th metacarpal bones.

A linear echogenic focus ( 28 mm longth , 1 - 2 mm thick ) is noted within collection on palmer aspect.

Case Discussion

Findings of hand abscess due to foreign body which looks like a thorn / wood splinter.
