Bilateral oblique lamina fractures of C2 with anterior translation and angulation measuring 18 degrees. The C2/3 facet joints maintain normal alignment. Widening of the posterior IV disc space at C2/3 suggests an injury of the posterior longitudinal ligament. Widening of the C1/2 interspinous space indicating a ligamentous injury. Marked prevertebral soft tissue thickening.
ETT in situ. Right upper lobe consolidation in keeping with aspiration.
Case Discussion
This C2 hangman fracture represents a Levine and Edwards type 2a injury due to the amount of angulation and the orientation of the fractures.
