Presentation

Penetrating skull injury from his sister during playing.

Patient Data

Age: 12 years
Gender: Male

Artifact from the foreign body (scissors) degrading image quality.

There is evidence of metallic density object (scissors) implanted within the occipital bone, one of the limbs appears within the brain parenchyma and the other limb is noted within the scalp.

No acute intracranial hemorrhage.

Case Discussion

A number of features need to be assessed in patients with low-velocity penetrating injuries, with care taken to carefully document findings as often these scans will be used in medicolegal proceedings.
