Hemidiaphragmatic paralysis

Shortness of breath.

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Male

No significant excursion of the right hemidiaphragm on free breathing with paradoxical movement of the right hemidiaphragm on sniffing. 

Case Discussion

The cause for this patient's hemidiaphragm paralysis is not known. There is no history of trauma or surgery, and a CT of the neck/chest did reveal a lesion along the course of the phrenic nerve.
