A 33 x 26 x 20 mm circumscribed, largely hypoechoic, avascular lesion is seen in the caudal aspect of the right thyroid lobe. Findings are in line with a hemorrhagic thyroid cyst (a 2009 US report was available, which already showed a small colloid cyst in the area). Small, isoechoic nodules with crescentic halo in both lobes.
Case Discussion
6 ml of brownish, bloody fluid was subsequently aspirated under US guidance.
