Hepatic abscess

Abdominal right upper quadrant pain and fever.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

A 51×38mm thick-walled fluid density lesion with internal air bubbles is noted at right liver lobe which shows peripheral ring enhancement.
The gallbladder is contracted and contains a 6mm gallstone.

Case Discussion

Features on CT scan are most consistent with hepatic abscess which is localized collections of necrotic inflammatory tissue caused by bacterial, parasitic, or fungal agents.
