Hepatic abscess - with intraperitoneal rupture

Presentation

Jaundice for few days and acute abdominal pain for one day.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
  • free fluid with echoes in perihepatic, hepato-renal, right iliac fossa and pelvic regions
  • an irregular hypo-anechoic heterogeneous avascular lesion (volume ~294 ccs) in the right posterior segment
  • site of a breach in the liver capsule with a mobile flake under inspiration and expiration.

Case Discussion

Findings favor intraperitoneal rupture of hepatic abscess.
