Presentation
Pain right upper abdomen, no fever.
Patient Data
A large cystic lesion is seen in the right lobe of liver having calcified walls and internal daughter cysts and calcified matrix. Multicystic lesions are seen in right lower lobe and inside the oblique fissure.
Case Discussion
This patient was referred to the radiology department from the referring physician with the complaint of non-specific right upper abdominal pain. There was no fever. No previous investigation or ultrasound performed. The patient had no history of recent travel.
Hydatid disease is a parasitic infestation by Echinococcus which can involve any organ but the liver is the most common organ involved, followed by the lungs.
