Presentation
Right hypochondrial pain. Patient reported having a hepatic focal lesion in ultrasonography done 15 years ago.
Patient Data
Ultrasound showed a left hepatic lobe well circumscribed mass of dominant echogenic texture with edge shadowing and mild posterior acoustic enhancement.
The liver is enlarged showing a left hepatic lobe segment 4B well circumscribed ovoid cystic like mass; it measures about 3.7 x 3.2 x 4.7 cm along its maximum axial and craniocaudal dimensions. The focal lesion is seen showing incomplete curvilinear mural plaques of calcification with internal peripheral based partially calcified nodules showing faint post contrast enhancement.
Patent homogeneously enhancing portal vein and is main branches as well as its main tributaries.
Case Discussion
Calcified hepatic focal lesion with mural curvilinear calcifications and internal calcific daughter cysts. Imaging findings are suggestive of a hepatic hydatid disease supported by the reported long history as well as positive serological studies.
